biography
Choreographer Howard Jeffrey got his start as a child actor. Following training and experience with the American Ballet and Alicia Alonso's dance troupe, Jeffrey was chief assistant to Jerome Robbins on West Side Story. Later Jeffrey served in a similar capacity on other films and was billed as a full-fledged choreographer on On a Clear Day You Can See Forever and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Howard Jeffrey became an associate producer in the late '70s and by the early '80s had become a producer.
