biography
An important figure, both as a technical innovator and director of early Italian films, Giovanni Pastrone is best remembered for the film Cabiria (1914), one of the first epic productions. Pastrone entered films as an administrator in 1905 and became a producer and director in 1908. Occasionally, he billed himself as Piero Fosco.
