Twice nominated for his contributions to popular television staples, television set decorator and designer George Henshaw helped to bring a distinctive look to two of the most popular television shows of their era: Magnum P.I. and Hawaii Five-O. A native of Honolulu who attended Stanford, Henshaw served as a lieutenant during World War II and was held as a POW from 1942-1945. Henshaw returned stateside to pursue a career in show business in Los Angeles, and it wasn't long before his sharp eye for detail found him climbing from an usher position at CBS to that of set designer and decorator. In addition to the aforementioned series, Henshaw's work was also seen in such popular shows as Playhouse 90, The Pad and How to Use It, and Tales of the Gold Monkey. He died August 20, 2003, at Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu. He was 85.
