biography
American screenwriter Franklin Coen began earning film credits around 1936. After an absence of several years, Coen popped up at Universal. Here he worked on the sci-fi classic This Island Earth, reportedly adding the pivotal character of "The Mutant" at the studio's behest. He earned an Academy Award nomination for his work on 1965's The Train. Franklin Coen's final projects were largely confined to the "blaxploitation" field.
