Biography by AllMovie

Hungarian filmmaker Ferenc András is best known for two award-winning dramas, Dogkeselyu (1982) and A Nagy Generáció/The Great Generation (1986). András was an unskilled factory worker before he entered the television industry, working his way up from floor manager to technical director. András then attended the Academy of Theater and Film Art, where he studied film direction under György Illés and Károly Makk. Joining Béla Balázs Studio shortly after graduation in 1972, András started out in television, and did not make his feature directorial debut until Veri as Ördög a Feleségét/The Devil Is Beating His Wife (1977), which he also co-scripted.
