Spanish filmmaker Eugenio Martín learned his craft at the Instituto de Investigaciones y Experiencias Cinematográficas and after graduation worked as an assistant on American productions filmed on location in Spain. Martín made his feature-film debut with Despedida de Soltero/Stag Party (1958). Though he directed films in a variety of genres, Martín was best known for Westerns, and for such horror movies as Pánico en el Transiberiano (1972). Since 1972, Martín has managed the Vega Films S.L. production company, and he occasionally publishes volumes of poetry. Though Martín is occasionally credited for films made under the pseudonym of "Herbert Martin," the penname actually belongs to Italian director Alberto de Martino.
