Screenwriter Edwin Harvey Blum scripted a number of major features, including Stalag 17 (1953) for which he earned his only Oscar nomination. Other Blum films include The New Adventures of Tarzan (1935), the Basil Rathbone starrer The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1939), and The Bamboo Prison (1955). A native of Atlantic City, NJ, Blum moved to Los Angeles in 1933 and started out as an assistant to Writers Guild of America president Ernest Pascal. During the '60s and '70s, Blum primarily wrote teleplays for such series as The Man From U.N.C.L.E, 77 Sunset Strip, and Hawaii 5-O.
