British cinematographer Denys Coop started out in films as a camera assistant at age 16. He was a director of photography by 1962 and is especially noted for his facility with black and white film. Coop has worked on both British and American productions during the '60s and '70s. In 1978, he shared an Oscar for the visual special effects of Superman.
