An actor born and raised in Honolulu, HI, Darin Brooks acquired a taste for acting from involvement in a local production of Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods, then formally honed his skills as a thespian under the mentorship of Ivana Chubbuck and at Carter Thor Studios in the City of Angels. After an agent prompted Brooks to move to Los Angeles permanently, he met with Days of Our Lives casting director Fran Bascom and in 2005 snagged his first major role on that daytime soap, playing slick, young womanizer Max Brady.
