biography
A veteran stage actor from Syracuse, NY, gray-haired Dan Mason played Roger Chillingworth in an early 1917 screen version of Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter. Onscreen with Edison from at least 1913, Mason (born Grassman) specialized in playing ascetic types and his career lasted until 1927.
