A tall character actor from the stage, Charles Quartermaine had played important supporting roles in such British productions as The Face at the Window (1920) prior to embarking on a less satisfying Hollywood career. Mainly a bit player, Quartermaine played Artimiev in MGM's Redemption (1930) before returning to Great Britain. He was the brother of actor Leon Quartermaine and the husband of character actresses Mary Forbes and Madge Titheradge.
