biography
Actor and filmmaker Charles Bryant was born and raised in England, but pursued an acting career in the U.S. in 1916. Soon after his arrival, he began working on Broadway. That year he also appeared in his first film. He went on to act in many pictures for the next three years, frequently starring opposite his wife Alla Nazimova. When she began producing her own films, he became her director until they divorced in the early 1920s. After that, Bryant left film and resumed his career on Broadway as an actor and occasional director.
