Cecil Holland on AllMovie

From England, veteran stage actor Cecil Holland entered films with Oliver Morosco and the Selig Polyscope Company in 1912 and later became a favorite of director Marshall Neilan, who cast him in a handful of good supporting roles, including that of John Barrett in Penrod (1922). By then, however, Holland had already embarked on what eventually became his main career, that of a motion picture makeup artist. Associated with MGM from around 1925, the former actor worked on such classic dramas as Grand Hotel (1932) and The Good Earth (1936). His last credited work came in the 1950 action-drama Borderline.
