biography
Adams was born Max Showalter, the name he used in 1949 and after 1963. Following stage and Broadway work, he began his career as a light character actor in late '40s, often appearing as a comic support, "regular-guy" buddy, and reporter or newscaster. He composed the title song and music for Vicki (1953), in which he also appeared; Adams occasionally wrote music for other films as well.
