biography
Tall, heavyset supporting actor C. Norman Hammond (the initial stood for "Charles") had appeared in stock opposite Bertha Kalich and Amelia Bingham prior to entering films with the new Jersey-based Eclair company in 1911. Acting for producer Thomas Ince in the 1910s, Hammond usually portrayed heavies but could also play the heroine's father or the "other man." He left films in 1922 in favor of the Broadway stage.
