Swedish actor Birger Malmstein made his earliest known screen appearance in 1936. Youngish in appearance, he was able to play juvenile roles well into his late twenties. He was among the regular performers in the Ingmar Bergman films of the 1940s and 1950s, including A Ship Bound for India, Thirst, and The Devil's Wanton. Birger Malmstein retired from films in 1977.
