Versatile costume designer Betsy Heimann provided the characters of Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction with their distinctive styles. She also worked on the screenwriter/director's films Reservoir Dogs and Get Shorty. She took the long road toward becoming a full-fledged costumer, in that she started out as a seamstress and then systematically learned every task there is to do in the costume department. She made her debut clothing the stars in High Road to China (1983) and has gone on to work on such diverse production as The Adventures of Huck Finn (1993), Renaissance Man (1994), Jerry Maguire (1996), and Mercury Rising (1998).
