A singer, dancer, and according to her official bio, violinist from Michigan, Audrey Ferris enjoyed a brief vogue during the transition from silents to sound. In fact, along with Myrna Loy she played a chorus girl in the groundbreaking The Jazz Singer (1927) and she was Rin Tin Tin's "leading lady" in the all-barking Rinty of the Desert (1928). Ironically, sound did eventually prove an obstacle and she only appeared in one feature film in 1930, down from three the previous year. Her screen career all but over by 1933, Ferris worked as a secretary in the office of the Los Angeles District Attorney. She was at one point married to an heir to the Huntington railroad fortune.
