biography
Costume designer Adele Balkan enjoyed a long career in the Hollywood studio system, spanning a time period of 40 years. Her first job was with Paramount Pictures as a sketch artist, working on the 1934 film Cleopatra. Through the years, she was able to work on some of the biggest films to come out of Hollywood. Balkan continued to work until her retirement in 1972, after which she became an artist. She died in late 1999, at the age of 92.
